The INMP Executive Board has selected The Peace House, Uppsala (Sweden) to host The 11th International Conference of Museums for Peace. The conference, to be held in August 2023 will have the theme "Peacekeepers for the future." In the upcoming months, the INMP's Conference Working Group will coordinate with the Uppsala Conference Steering Committee to develop the Conference organization and planning. CLICK HERE to view the panel presentations.* * *The National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, Alabama (USA) is the only institution in the US with the self-identified name of a "museum for peace" (in this case 'memorial for peace...and justice'). The site is a sacred space for truth-telling and reflection about racial terror in America and its legacy. The Legacy Museum, also the work of the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) provides visitors the opportunity to learn about America's history of racial injustice and its legacy. * * *In Oklahoma City (USA), the First Americans Museum (FAM) opened to the public in September 2021. This new museum for peace focuses on the cultures, histories, and current stories of Oklahoma’s Native peoples. * * *The Global Campaign for Peace Education promotes the development of peace education in schools throughout the world. Its November 2021 issue of the Global Campaign for Peace Education Newsletter includes a relevant essay by Jamie Wise on the role of history education in shaping collective memory and intergroup relations in (post)conflict contexts.
